CHANGE PROGRAM MANAGEMENT – EUROPEAN AIRPORT
The customer had embarked on a major technology transformation where all core traffic operational systems and infrastructure were to be replaced by a new platform. The legacy systems had evolved over a period of nearly 20 years and end-of-life for key parts of the platform was closing in fast due to insufficient scalability, inadequate documentation, lack of maintainability, and lack of staff with sufficient insight into old legacy code. The airport hired a Bestshore consultant to manage the highly critical transformation program. The program portfolio comprised around 100 individual projects, including a significant EU tender. Key focus areas for the new platform included
- Agility and flexibility to ensure that the new platform could easily adapt to changing business requirements
- Process optimizations and full alignment between business processes and IT systems
In addition to being overall responsible for the planning and management of the program, the Bestshore consultant was also hands-on involved in requirements specifications, vendor selection processes, contract development and negotiation, and planning of high profile projects in the portfolio. The program spanned several years with 25-30 active projects at any time.
